Pride Cleaners moved the company into a new headquarters in Grandview in February. The company spent $1.3 million to refurbish the building at 13613 S. U.S. Highway 71 and spent an additional $700,000 on new equipment. Grandview assisted Pride Cleaners by forming a Chapter 353 redevelopment corporation that provides 25 years of tax abatement.
“This will be one of the top production facilities for dry cleaners in the country,” said Pride Cleaners owner, Dominic Brancato. “We’ve installed a lot of state-of-the-art equipment. We’ve got equipment from Italy that sorts clothing automatically. We’ve got the newest technology in shirt pressing.”
The 20,000-square-foot building Pride now owns is twice as big as the Overland Park location it had leased. The new Grandview plant and a second production facility in Mission do all the garment cleaning for 32 Pride Cleaners storefronts in the Kansas City area. The increased capacity will help Pride reach its goal of 50 locations.
Pride cleaners also has signed a deal to have a location in the Kansas City in Hen House locations and is currently working on a similar deal with the Kansas City Price Choppers.
