Share your story of why you relocated? RE/MAX International has launched a 10-week social media contest

Share your story  . . .

RE/MAX International has launched a 10-week social media contest that runs until the end of July that encourages people who relocate to share their stories about life’s most pivotal moments.

To enter, participants of the “What Moves You?” contest post a story, photo and/or video to the contest website, http://whatmovesyou.remax.com. Entries will be voted on by the public, so contestants are encouraged to make their stories as moving as possible – whether it’s about a new job, addition to the family a job transfer or a tragic event – whatever gets people looking to buy or sell a home.

In addition to the contest, RE/MAX LLC will donate $1 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for each submission.

The ongoing voting will determine eight weekly winners, who will receive a $750 Apple gift card. From that group, the grand-prize winner will be determined from the final week of voting. The $10,000 grand-prize will be for the submission entry that receives the most votes from the final week of voting.

Contestants can enter any one or a combination of the following:
Story  (500 words maximum)
Video (3 minutes or less; must provide a YouTube or other video-sharing link)
Photo (JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF or TIFF not to exceed 10MB)
Full contest rules and eligibility guidelines are available at http://whatmovesyou.remax.com.

Loan Officer Humor: Lock it in!

Loan Officer Humor: Lock it in!

El diablo!A loan officer died and met St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.
Peter said, "Well, you did a lot of good helping people get homes and you also donated a lot to charity. You even worked with Habitat for Humanity. But you told too many lies to the underwriters and were very rude to both your processor and office staff.

Because we aren't sure where you're going to fit in best, we've decided to give you tours of both Heaven and Hell and let you decide where you feel most comfortable."

In Heaven, the Loan Officer really liked the streets paved with gold and the big mansions, but he found all the harp music to be a bit irksome.
When he toured Hell, he saw that everyone had their choice of playing tennis or golf, relaxing by the pool drinking, playing cards and dancing in the clubhouse.

He said to St. Peter, "This is a hard choice! Can I sleep on it?"
Mildly annoyed, St. Peter agreed.

The next morning the loan officer had made his choice. He begged, "Oh please, send me to Hell!"
When they opened up the doors of Hell, it had completely changed! It was the stereotypical Hell of torture, fire and brimstone.

"Hey!" the loan officer cried, "This is not what you showed me yesterday!"
St. Peter had a cold and abrupt reply: "I know. Pity you didn't 'lock it in' yesterday."

Humor: The Dedicated Real Estate Agent

Humor: The Dedicated Real Estate Agent

You're Fired! on forehead.A guy walks into a real estate office and hands the broker his application. The broker begins to scan the sheet, and notices that the applicant has been fired from every real estate office he has ever worked for.
"I must say," the broker begins, "your track record is terrible. You've been fired from every real estate office."
"Got that right!" says the man.
"Well," continues the broker, "there's not much positive in that."
"Hey!" says the guy as he pokes the application. "At least I'm not a quitter."

Thinking about buying cash flowing investment properties? Read these common tenant complaints sent to landlords

I received these emails from a Boston real estate landlord/Boston Real Estate blog reader:
From: David Thorne
Date: Thursday 21 May 2009 10.16am
To: Helen Bailey
Subject: Pets in the building
Dear Helen,
Thankyou for your letter concerning pets in my apartment. I understand that having dogs in the apartment is a violation of the agreement due to the comfort and wellbeing of my neighbours and I am currently soundproofing my apartment with egg cartons as I realise my dogs can cause quite a bit of noise. Especially during feeding time when I release live rabbits.
Regards,
David.

Hello David:
I have received your email and wish to remind you that the strata agreement states that no animals are allowed in the building regardless of if your apartment is soundproof. How many dogs do you have at the premises?

Dear Helen,
Currently I only have eight dogs but one is expecting puppies and I am very excited by this. I am hoping for a litter of at least ten as this is the number required to participate in the Portland, Maine, dog sled racing.
I have read every Jack London novel in preparation and have constructed my own sled from timber I borrowed from the construction site across the road during the night. I have devised a plan which I feel will ensure me taking first place in the next national dog sled championships.
For the first year of the puppies life I intend to say the word “mush” then chase them violently around the apartment while yelling and hitting saucepan lids together.
I have estimated that the soundproofing of my apartment should block out at least sixty percent of the noise and the dogs will learn to associate the word mush with great fear so when I yell it on race day, the panic and released adrenaline will spur them on to being winners. I am so confident of this being a foolproof plan that I intend to sell all my furniture the day before the race and bet the proceeds on coming first place.
Regards,
David.

Dear Helen,
No. I have a goldfish but due to the air conditioner in my apartment being stuck on a constant two degrees celcius, the water in its bowl is iced over and he has not moved for a while so I do not think he is capable of disturbing the neighbours. The ducks in the bathroom are not mine. They may have flown in when I left the batroom window open.
The noise which my neighbours possibly mistook for a dog in the apartment is just the looping tape I have of dogs barking which I play at high volume while I am at work to deter potential burglars from breaking in and stealing my tupperware. I need it to keep food fresh. Once I ate leftover chinese that had been kept in an unsealed container and I experienced complete awareness. The next night I tried eating it again but only experienced chest pains and diarrhoea.
Regards,
David.

Hello David,
You cannot play sounds of dogs or any noise at a volume that disturbs others. I am sure you can appreciate that these rules are for the benefit of all residents of the building. Fish are fine. You cannot have ducks in the apartment though. If it was small birds that would be ok.

David, under section 4 of the strata residency agreement it states that you cannot have pets. You agreed to these rules when you signed the forms. These rules are set out to benefit everyone in the building including yourself. Do you have a telephone number I can call you on to discuss?

The ducks will no doubt be flying south for the winter soon so it will not be an issue. It is probably for the best as they are not getting along very well with my seventeen cats anyway.

A few more classic Boston landlord complaints

The toilet is blocked and we cannot bathe the children until it is cleared.

Our kitchen floor is very damp, we have two children and would like a third, so will you please send someone to do something about it.

I want some repairs done to my stove as it has backfires and burnt my knob off.

This is to let you know that there is a smell coming from the man next door.

The toilet seat is cracked: where do I stand?

I am writing on behalf of my sink, which is running away from the wall.

Our lavatory seat is broken in half and is now in three pieces.

Will you please send someone to mend our cracked sidewalk? Yesterday my wife tripped on it and is now pregnant.

Will you please send a man to look at my bath water? It is a funny color and not fit to drink.

Would you please send a man to repair my downspout? I am an old-age pensioner and need it straight away.

Could you please send someone to fix our bath tap? My wife got her toe stuck in it and it is very uncomfortable for us.

When the workmen were here, they put their tools in my wife’s new drawers and made a mess. Please send men with clean tools to finish the job and keep my wife happy.

So after reading this you still want to become a landlord, lets talk. We have some great cash flowing properties.

As Crown Center is planning on opening an Aquarium, Mission, Kansas is planning a Press Conference today to Announce their Newest Development Including an Aquarium

As Crown Center is planning on opening an Aquarium, Mission, Kansas is planning a Press Conference today to Announce their Newest Development Including an Aquarium

The past couple years if a Kansas Citian wanted to view a huge saltwater aquarium, they would either go to the T-Rex Restaurant, Bass Pro Shops or to local saltwater fish stores like Midwest Reefs, Aquarium Wholesale, Piccaso Exotic Aquatics or Paradise Aquatics.

Day trips to Omaha, Oklahoma City and St. Louis would provide more viewing pleasures with bigger aquariums and more saltwater fish.

A couple months ago there was announcement of a large saltwater fish aquarium opening up next spring in the Crown Center area.

Today, the City of Mission, Kansas is holding a press conference to announce the approval of a new development featuring a 1.5 million saltwater aquarium. The aquarium will be operated by U.S. Aquarium Team.

For more information on the Mission, KS. saltwater aquarium, go to Mission Saltwater Aquarium
