According to the Johnson County Appraiser, Paul Welcome, 68.7% of Johnson County property owners will receive a lower appraisal and 7.2% will receive a higher appraisal.
Although that is good news for Johnson County, Kansas property owners, it is not good news for the local government.
The local county and city government is already scrapping by and making cuts to budgets. Now they will need to make steeper cuts. Most of the Johnson County school districts were already planning on taking huge cuts like $8-10 million dollars. Now what?
Three things need to start. First, we need to create jobs in Johnson County. Second, we need to get home construction back on track. Third, we need to get people to feel confident about the economy and start spending again.
