Question: My husband and I just got served a foreclosure notice at our Overland Park home last week. We are looking at our options to move to in the next couple months. We contacted a couple apartment complexes but they both want to do a credit search. Since our credit is bad, what should we do?
Answer: Sorry to hear about your current home situation. If you need any help on your current home, please feel free to contact us. Did you know that you maybe able to sell your home after the sheriff sale and keep some proceeds?
Regarding your rental options. Nearly ever management company and landlord will do a credit check these days. It is best to be upfront and honest with the management companies and landlords. They're going to find out anyways on the credit search.
You may talk to some landlords from Craigslist and to some larger apartment complexes that have a large number of vacancies may be a little more lenient. In addition good references may help.
With as many foreclosures as there are in Kansas City, this will not be the first time a landlord or rental manager has talked to someone with a real estate foreclosure. You will be able to find a rental property.
RE/MAX sells more homes than any other real estate company.
For a reason...should we talk?
