Nothing worse for me than to hang out with new friends and listen to how poorly they were treated by a Realtor that entered and left the industry, having completed their only sale with the poor guy across from me at the dinner party.
You can handle the truth. You can....
Most of the information required to buy or sell, or find a home is available to you via the internet.
For free.
Sample contracts, comparable sales, available homes, (many of them anyway)....
The contracts may not be the right ones for your state, or your transaction...they may not protect you, may even overtly benefit the other side...but they are out there.
The comparable home sales are the result of public records...may be refinances, not sales...may be foreclosures, not sales...may be old sales data, over a year or more....
But it's all out there.
The available homes?
Only your Multiple Listing Service offers a a complete an updated list....There are exceptions, but they are few.
So why not do it yourself?
Do you know what a "material claim" is? Same with a "material defect"?
Do you know how to properly complete a disclosure to limit your liability?
Can you, without passion, discuss the relative value of your home, versus the other comparable homes?
Can you get your home found on the Internet someplace other than Craig's List?
Do you know where to find the right contract and offer documents to fit your sale?
Do you know all of the team you'll need to use to buy or sell quickly, effectively...inexpensively?
A full-time Realtor is a jack of all trades....connecting you with all of the resources you know you need, but most importantly, all of those you don't!
Nothing worse for me than to hang out with new friends and listen to how poorly they were treated by a Realtor that entered and left the industry, having completed their only sale with the poor guy across from me at the dinner party.
