Blue Valley teenager’s idea to sell an Olathe, Kansas home for charity has raised $57,365 for the Head for the Cure Foundation

A Blue Valley teenager’s idea to sell an Olathe, Kansas home for charity has raised $57,365 for the Head for the Cure Foundation which benefits the Chris Anthony Brain Tumor Research Fund at the MC Anderson Cancer Center.

The Blue Valley North student Meryl Engle engaged her uncle, super Olathe homebuilder Jim Engle, to help with her philanthropic assignment as the reigning queen of the annual Matzo Ball. She presented the check — profits from sale of a house that James Engle Custom Homes built the house in the Olathe subdivision, Prairie Brook — to the Head for the Cure Foundation on Saturday as part of Matzo Ball events at Overland Park Convention Center.

While her uncle’s company built the house, Meryl got subcontractors to donate their services and supplies or reduce prices. Some subcontractors gave donations.

RE/MAX sells more homes than any other real estate company.
