Prairie Highlands Golf Course Blocks Olathe, KS. residents

Although people driving through the Prairie Highlands Subdivision thought the barricades in the streets were blocking a continuous construction project, the residents of the subdivision knew otherwise.

Since the operators of the Prairie Highlands Golf Course haven't used common sense, the City of Olathe has intervened.

A Johnson County, KS. judge has temporarily restrained the owners of the Prairie Highlands Golf Course in Olathe from blocking two major streets around the golf course.

The restraining order was sought Monday by Tom Glinstra, Olathe city attorney, following the placement of barricades last Thursday on St. Andrews and Inverness streets in the Prairie Highlands development in southwest Olathe just north of the New Century AirCenter.

Some Olathe residents complained they felt trapped in their homes by the blocked streets.

It is sad that this situation has come to this, isn't it? I can see the streets closed for a short period like an hour and the residents either compensated or a plan implemented to handle the situation but my research has indicated that had not happened.

I heard a few residents talk about a notice attached to the door and that barricades were up for long periods of times. In one case a gentleman wasn't able to get his car off the street nor was he allowed to go to work. It sure doesn't sound like the Prairie Highlands Golf Course used good judgement, doesn't it?
