Selling Your Kansas City Home During the Winter is Good! Properly Stage Your Home

Some home sellers don't see winter as an ideal time to sell their home. There are advantages though when you sell your Kansas City home during the winter months.
Is this home warm and inviting?
Winter does not have the selling frenzy that comes during hot selling springtime. Home buyer's have fewer homes to pick from and you have fewer homes to compete against Since there is fewer homes to compete against, a little staging can really help in getting your home sold during the winter months.

Take care of the exterior

Selling your Kansas City home during any season requires a little maintenance so that your property appears to be well maintained. Make sure the surroundings are clean and needed maintenance repairs are completed. You may not be able to paint during winter time but you can wash the paintwork and also clean the siding with water and soap. You can also wash the windows so they will be fresh in case a potential buyer views your home.

Trim the foliage

Trim down branches or shrubs which may be blocking entrances or getting into pathways. Prune the dead and overgrown branches on trees and shrubs as necessary. Make sure that your walkway is ice and snow-free every time your home is being shown. Buyers dislike walking through snow to get to the front door. This is a sign of courtesy and also helps potential buyers avoid any injuries, for which you will be responsible.
Decorate the entrance
Some sets of Christmas lights, wreath on the door, or some garlands will make your Kansas City home very welcoming to potential buyers. Don't go overboard and decorate your home like the Griswold's home. To much can be viewed as clutter to potential buyers.

First impression

When a potential buyer visits to see your Kansas City home, you need to make most of the first fifteen seconds. The first impression is important. Also make sure your home is warm and inviting. Lights on during the night will make your home appear bigger during the winter.

Light candles and the fireplace

Create some ambiance by lighting some candles and burn some wood in the fireplace. You can also make use of flowers like poinsettias for the main rooms. A little soft music will help the ambiance.
