This week, the principal of Gardner Elementary, Pam Tate, walked into a surprise. The students, staff and administrators surprised Pam in the gym with cheers and applause for her selection as the Kansas Distinguished Principal of the Year.
Pam was selected as the 2012 Kansas Distinguished Principal by the National Distinguished Principal program offered by the Kansas Association of Elementary School Principals (KAESP). Mr. Jeff White, president of KAESP, was present to notify Mrs. Tate of the honor. Mrs. Tate will represent all Kansas elementary principals during 2012 and will be recognized at the National Distinguished Principal's conference in Washington, DC next fall.
