What a week for sports in Kansas City.
It may seem like spring-training weather out there, but if you’re a baseball fan, this is one of the best weeks of the year to be in Kansas City.
First up, the Kansas City Royals will play the Cleveland Indians for a two-game set starting tonight at Kauffman Stadium, and then Texas comes for two games. The dreaded Cardinals then will make the trek from St. Louis for a weekend series.
KC Royals Charities will partner with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association to play host to a series of concourse auctions during the homestand. Proceeds from the auctions, featuring memorabilia from current and former big-leaguers, will benefit Royals Charities and youth baseball clinics for kids. Auctions will be held daily Thursday through Sunday.
The T-Bones will be in action, too. They start the home portion of their schedule Tuesday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Western Wyandotte County against the Gary SouthShore RailCats for a three-game set. For the first game, the team will be giving away T-Bones T-shirts to the first 2,000 fans, and the first 5,000 will receive a magnet schedule. After that series, the Grand Prairie AirHogs will be in KCK on Friday for three games.
