A tornado hit Joplin, Missouri around 6:00 PM on May 22nd. The 1/2 mile twister landed on Joplin for nearly 3.5 minutes, but destroyed nearly 30% of the city including the St. Johns Hospital, local Walmart, local Home Depot and hundreds of homes.
