Bannister Mall Redevelopment Plan Will Cost Kansas City Taxpayers $100,000,000. That is a lot of Cash!

There's a new plan to redevelop the old Bannister mall site, but it's going to cost taxpayers $100 million. Developers say they can turn the concrete dessert there into a jobs mecca, but first they need tax incentives before any tenants will sign on the dotted line.

On Wednesday, they got the first of many approvals they are going to need, this one from the Tax Increment Financing Commission.

The developer is selling Kansas City a plan that 7400 people will actually work at the old Bannister Mall site. Seriously? Has the developer been out and viewed the concrete jungle and the neighboring community?
