Trained Termite Dogs are 400% more accurate than a human inspector

Just a Case of The Sniffles

Training resembles drug dog training and bomb dog training, but instead of drugs and bombs, the trainer substitutes termites....

Termites you say....?

The damage these insects can do is extensive and expensive....and can be mostly hidden.

These termite dogs in the news find the pests that eat your home....The dreaded termite.  The dog costs about $6500 each to train. But the payoff is big.  The average termite inspection runs $65 to $85 per home.  The average cost for an inspection using a dog runs about $135, more or less.  Why pay more?

The dog is far more accurate, sniffing the methane gas produced by microorganisms in the termites digestive tracts as they go about the process of eating your home.  Their human counterparts must rely on keen eyesight and experience.  Termite dogs have been around for 25 years, but have recently increased in popularity, due to their increased success rates, oftentimes where there are no visible signs of the insects, or their damage.

Not just a pretty face, these dogs are recognized as “scientific instruments”. On average, more then 50% of every structure is hidden, or inaccessible to an inspector....Th finely tuned nose of Fido can smell these insects behind walls, under floor companies, behind stucco, wood sidings, even brick.

Research says the dogs are 400% more accurate than a human inspector.
