Should the City of Olathe spend millions on constructing a Community Center?

The City of Olathe has been discussing the idea of a community center. Many nearby cities like Lenexa & Overland Park have a community center.

The Olathe City Council resurrected the issue Tuesday by voting to authorize the city staff to begin negotiating with Caymus Real Estate LLC, a full-service development company.

They would come up with a design for a community center and assess various sites for the project, according to Tim Danneberg, a city spokesman.

The vote to proceed wasn’t unanimous. Councilmen John Bacon and Bob Montgomery voted against the move. The council met behind closed doors in executive session for about an hour before the vote.

Do you think it would be good for the City of Olathe to spend millions on constructing and staffing a community center?
