Johnson County to kick off Census campaign

JoCo to kick off Census campaign:

The "Johnson County Census 2010 Complete Count” kickoff celebration is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday in downtown Olathe.

The public event will be on the County Square between the Courthouse and Administration Building, weather permitting. It will be moved inside the Administration Building, 111 South Cherry Street, in case of bad weather.

The Census 2010 Complete Count by Johnson County Government is intended to build public awareness of the importance of conducting and completing the 2010 census count that starts in mid-March. The theme for the federal census campaign is “It’s in Our Hands.”

There are 10 questions on the Census and the no personal information is requested. Information from the Census is used to determine how the government will divide the 400 billion in federal money.

The federal money is used to pay for Medicaid, senior programs, block grants, road programs and more.

If a Census is not completed in a timely matter by mail, Census takers, will start knocking on doors of homes with incomplete Census.

In my opinion, it takes 10 minutes or less to do the Census and we only do it every 10 years. If you are one of the ones who completes fast, awesome! If the government needs to send a Census worker to your home then you increase the expense of doing this years Census.

Wouldn't it be great if Johnson County, Kansas had their Census completed by April 1st?
