Yep, that is correct. You read the title correctly. 50% of the Gardner, KS. swimming pool will close despite sunny and hot weather.

If you ask my daughter why, she would tell you that a boy fell and bonked his head.

What actually happened is the swimming pool floor is very slippery and little kidos are falling. In deeper water it isn't a problem. In the shallow water, the kidos are hitting their heads on the bottom of the pool. Small sand particles will be mixed into the paint in order to give the kidos some traction.

According to Gardner swimming pool staff, a contractor will need to repaint the floor of the swimming pool after it is drained. The pool staff anticipates the pool will be drained by Tuesday and if sunny and hot weather prevails, the contractor will start repainting the swimming pool Wednesday. The date of the reopening is unknown at this time.

The affected areas are both zero entry pools, lazy river and the water slides. The only unaffected areas is the separate deep water pool with the diving boards.
