Return off of Investment of Projects around the home.
In the past week, I met a couple who wanted to sell their home for $40,000 more than any home in their subdivision. Their reasoning was they just spent $40,000 replacing their roof, finishing off part of the basement, replacing the air conditioner, replacing a few windows and updating their kitchen. They wanted a 100% return on their investment. Unfortunately, there are very few projects that a homeowner can complete on their home where they will receive a 100% return.
Before you go down the same path, let's get together talk about the most cost-effective updates that will net you the best return on investment in your home.
Painting, exterior siding replacement, and a deck addition are three home improvement ideas that not only improve your curb appeal but also give you the best return on investment.
Painting gives outstanding results with little investment as long as you’ve chosen tasteful colors and the work is very professional and can give you a payback by as much as 300%. Replacing exterior siding can improve your home’s curb appeal. It would make your home look brand new, and can give you a payback as much as 81.8%. A deck boosts outdoor living space, not only it’s a good place for cookouts, entertaining or simply relaxing, it also gives you a higher return of investment.

10 Ways to Update Your Home Without Major Renovations
Electrical appliances are the 4th leading cause of fires in the home and many can be prevented by a simple check of the health of your cords and outlets. All you have to do is walk around your home and inspect your cords, outlets and surge protectors. Make sure the cords are not frayed, especially paying attention to where they have to bend. Confirm there are no burn marks around any outlets and spend a minute or so with each outlet and surge protector listening for any zips or zaps. Replace any that do.
This is also a good opportunity to unplug any electrical devices that you don't regularly use and may be leaching electricity and costing you money.
