My apartment lease is up at the end of June and I would like to buy a house in Olathe and move right in. When should I contact a Realtor to start looking for a new house in Olathe? How long does the process usually take?

Answer: Hi, Congratulations, Lisa, on making a decision to buy a house. Since homes in Olathe are selling quickly, I would recommend contacting a buyers agent 4-6 months before you are wanting to move. Since June is within 6 months, I would start interviewing buyers agents in the next week. Talk to several buyers agents and find one that clicks with you and that you feel will help you find the perfect house for you. The process of finding a home can take 1-2 months and the process to close a non-distressed house can take 20-45 days.

Good luck in your house hunt!
