Veterans can still take advantage of the Kansas City home buyer tax credit - Deadline ends in April!

Tax Day is looming here in Kansas City. Sparking memories of the first time home buyer tax credit that helped revive the failing Kansas City housing market over the last 18 months, veterans can still take advantage of the Kansas City home buyer tax credit.

That is right. There’s still one deserving demographic that can take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit for first-timers and its companion $6,500 credit for existing homeowners: active duty service members from Kansas City.

Qualified service members who served at least 90 days on extended duty from January 2009 to April 30, 2010, can still take advantage of the tax credits through the end of April, 2011. First time home buyers have until April 30 to purchase a home and until the end of June to close.

Other than that, requirements for participation are the same as for civilian first time home buyers: income limits of $125,000 individual and $225,000 for joint filers; purchase price at or below $800,000; and first-timers cannot have owned a home in the last three years.

The first time home buyer tax credit for service members can be combined with the VA loans to create a powerful purchasing opportunity in Kansas City.

If you're a veteran and need help qualifying for the Kansas City home buyer tax credit or finding a home, lets talk.

RE/MAX sells more homes than any other real estate company.

For a reason...should we talk?
