Here is a Plan to Help Save the Lives of our Children in Kansas City

Here is a Plan to Help Save the Lives of our Children in Kansas City

Here's an idea that's so good, we wish we'd come up with it ourselves. Not only is it creative and effective, but it also helps save the lives of children.

Did you know approximately 70% of all children killed or injured by motor vehicles are struck within blocks from their own homes?

Did you know an average of 4 children age 14 and younger were killed and 500 were injured every day in the United States in motor vehicle crashes during 2009?

Well, now there's something small you can do to raise awareness and save lives. Enter the "Drive Like Your Kids Live Here" project. Designed to help end distracted driving, raise awareness of children in our neighborhoods, and reduce the number of senseless pedestrian deaths, this program encourages you to post signs which simply state "DRIVE LIKE YOUR KIDS LIVE HERE."

It's a simple, powerful message, and one we think deserves some recognition. To learn more about
Drive Like Your Kids Live Here, check out their website:

You can buy the signs themselves, learn how to help, organize fundraisers, and learn more neighborhood safety.

If you live in Olathe, Kansas . . . Checkout this government website on preparing for natural disasters

Perhaps the one thing more precious to Kansas City home owners than their homes is the health and happiness of their family. Natural disasters can take both away in an instant. Tornado's, hail storms, floods, blizzards, and earthquakes are all part of living on this planet. We can’t prevent them, but we can do our best to prepare for them.

Lets keep our families safe . . .

Take a moment to show you care by visiting the government natural disaster preparedness website, Ready.gov. The government site contains a wide range of information on types of natural  disasters and how to prepare for them. One of the most important things you can do is prepare a “Disaster Kit” to get you through the first few days after a major disaster. The site contains information to help you do just that.

Be prepared for major natural disasters for the sake of your family and friends:

This has been a crazy year and now it got worse. I have mice in my kitchen, birds (or something else in my attic) and a raccoon in my storage shed. Who do you recommend to get these animals out? Kansas City Animal Control and Removal

Question: This has been a crazy year and now it got worse. I have mice in my kitchen, birds (or something else in my attic) and a raccoon in my storage shed. Who do you recommend to get these animals out?
Haley K. from Olathe, Kansas

Answer: Sorry to hear about your animal problems, Haley. Unwanted wild animals who get into the home can cause severe damage, so removing the animals is important.

In addition, I have been told that the dust from raccoons and birds can also cause severe allergies.

I recommend Stan Banks from Action Animal Control to remove your wild animals. Stan can be reached at 913-907-5798. Stand will do a great job!

Google Drive is Here

Google Drive is Here

Google Drive LogoI think it's fair to say that Google wants your entire business to run on Google products. After all, who else provides so much free, useful, web-based software (or cloud based, if you prefer)?
Well, there's a new cloud in the sky, and it's Google Drive. Much like Dropbox, Google Drive is a free service that allows you to backup, share, and access files remotely, anywhere. The service will also synchronize with your devices if you choose, making sure the files are instantly updated. Google Drive begins with 5GB of space free, but if you require more, you can buy more space at very reasonable prices.
Google published an original announcement about the service on their blog, but if you want a really great overview of the service, you should read CNet's "Google Drive FAQ" here:
In fact, this is a great page to share with friends, colleagues, and contacts who you think might be interested in the service. It's a great way to backup important files, music, photos, and other essential information.

9 Mistakes that can Blow the Home Sale

I read an interesting article on Fox Business News about the 9 mistakes that can blow the home sale.

It was interesting the the first 2 were not preparing the home and over-pricing. I definitely agree that these are important. The Fox Business News article is a good article for home owners to read prior to selling their home.

The one point I think the article missed was home owners hiring the right real estate agent to sell their home. Hiring the wrong agent can be costly.
